New cycle path between Atzel and city center: planning begins
Cycle path for the Atzel: the city council approves planning and costs for the new cycle path from the L 470 to Luitpoldstraße in Landstuhl.
The poor connection of the Atzel district to Landstuhl’s city center had long been a constant annoyance: cyclists had to take long detours to reach the center. Already in the cycling path concept and during citizen participation, the forest and service road along the grill hut was proposed as a new route.
The path is already used occasionally, but it is neither barrier-free nor accessible year-round. The aim of the project is to create a safe, illuminated, and stroller-friendly cycling and walking path that can be used at any time of day and year. To advance the planning process, an on-site inspection was first carried out with the forestry administration, which is supportive of the project.
For service phases 1–3 (basic evaluation, preliminary design, and cost calculation), an offer from the engineering firm Dilger from Dahn is available. Based on a preliminary cost estimate of €200,000 net and ancillary costs of 3%, a fee of €12,424.30 is calculated.
The city council has now passed the fundamental resolution for the construction of the bike path from L 470 to Luitpoldstraße and approved the additional unbudgeted costs. It awarded the planning contract to Ing.-Büro Dilger at the stated price. The remaining costs are to be budgeted in 2026.
With the new cycle path, a comfortable connection between Atzel and the city center could soon be created – an important step for sustainable mobility and another piece of the puzzle in the cycling path concept of the municipal association 🚲.
