Inner-city impulses: Landstuhl focuses on flower tubs, seating areas and knight traffic lights

Funding program “Inner-city impulses”: Landstuhl is focusing on flower tubs, green areas, seating furniture and knight traffic light figures.

The Sickingenstadt Landstuhl has successfully applied for the Rhineland-Palatinate funding program “City Center Impulses.” The goal of the program is to enhance and enliven city centers through small projects and creative ideas. The application deadline was the end of June 2025 – and now the city council resolutions are available.

Various measures are planned to beautify everyday life in the city center and increase the quality of stay:

  • 20 corten steel flower planters including planting
  • two new green areas at the Old Market
  • a “Kukuks-Box” as a mobile play element for children
  • three seating/planting combinations to be placed in front of the Stadthalle and at Martin-Butzer-Platz
  • furnishing of the wooden deck at the Old Market
  • knight-shaped pedestrian lights on Kaiserstraße – a tongue-in-cheek detail with recognition value
  • digital entrance signs for modern communication and information
  • public relations work to accompany and present the measures

The total costs amount to around €295,000. Of this, the city will contribute a 10% share (€29,500). This amount will be covered by savings elsewhere, such as by not needing the container solution at the St. Markus daycare or through reserves for parking lot design at the former slaughterhouse site.

After intensive discussions, the city council unanimously decided to cover the city’s share and thus set the projects in motion. At the same time, it was decided to remove two items from the funding application:

  • the purchase of small Christmas trees for local businesses
  • the purchase of a large Christmas tree for the new roundabout at Pallmann’s Eck

This means Landstuhl is focusing on measures that have a long-term effect and enrich the urban space throughout the year.

With the “City Center Impulses,” the city will become more modern, greener, and more inviting. Residents and visitors can soon look forward to new highlights – from fresh plant decorations to unusual details such as the knight-look pedestrian lights. A step that shows: Landstuhl wants to remain not only functional but also charming and lively 🌿🏙️.
