New WASGAU Fresh Market opened in Landstuhl – Sustainable, modern and regional

In May 2025, WASGAU opened a modern fresh market in Landstuhl – including sustainable construction, a regional range and around 40 new jobs.

The traditional company WASGAU has opened a new fresh market in Landstuhl in the year of its 100th anniversary. On May 19, 2025, invited guests were given a behind-the-scenes look at the state-of-the-art building before the official opening – among them Mayor Mattia De Fazio, District Administrator Ralf Leßmeister, Member of Parliament Marcus Klein, and many other representatives of the city.

A Plus for the Region and the Environment

With an investment of around 5 million euros, WASGAU is sending a clear signal for regionality, environmental awareness, and future-oriented retail. On 1,700 square meters of sales space, about 27,000 items are offered – including fresh baked goods and butcher products from in-house production.

Especially exciting: the new building meets high environmental standards. A large photovoltaic system on the roof, LED lighting, innovative heat pump technology, and a sustainable wooden ceiling construction show that environmental protection and shopping experience do not have to be contradictory.

Jobs and Opportunities on Site

The new location also brings new jobs: about 40 jobs are being created through the WASGAU market – an important contribution to the local economy and, especially for young people in training, studies, or job search, an attractive employer in the region.

Next door, a TEDi store has also opened. On 670 square meters, around 25,000 non-food items can be found – from household goods to decorations. Another 15 jobs were also created here.
