Conversion of the playground in Lindenstraße into a multi-generation square

Thanks to a funding program, a new meeting place for young and old is being created: a multi-generation square in Lindenstraße!

30.05.2025: Good news for Landstuhl: The multi-generation playground on Lindenstraße is set to be renewed!

The Sickingenstadt Landstuhl has decided – the playground on Lindenstraße will be completely redesigned as part of the new funding program “Regional.Future.Sustainable.” and converted into a multi-generation space. This is made possible by a state program passed by the parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate, which specifically supports sustainable and investment-oriented projects on site.

What does that mean in practice?

For Landstuhl, around €648,000 from the funding pot is available – and this entire budget will flow into the redesign of the current playground. The city council has thus sent a strong signal: The area on Lindenstraße should not only become more attractive, but above all more functional and usable across generations. From children to seniors – everyone should find their place here in the future.

Why now?

The future program “Regional.Future.Sustainable.” (short: LGRZN) was passed by the state parliament on February 20, 2025. The municipal association of Landstuhl will receive millions in funding from it – but under strict conditions: the projects must be investment-based, meaning they must be visible and effective locally. In addition, they must be completed within 36 months. For Landstuhl, this means: act now – and don’t lose time.

What happens next?

The city council unanimously approved the implementation. The funding application now has to be prepared and officially submitted. And if everything goes according to plan, concrete planning could begin soon. The important part: the city receives 100% funding – meaning no additional costs for the municipal budget.

ℹ️ Update from August 2025

The next step has now been taken: planning will be carried out by WSW & Partner GmbH from Kaiserslautern – this was decided by the city council.

The cost estimate is €109,986.94. Two engineering firms submitted offers; WSW & Partner achieved the best result in the selection process with 995 points and offered a fee of €69,920.75. The administration expressed confidence that the firm can deliver the services in the required quality.

The city council followed the recommendation and unanimously awarded the contract to WSW & Partner. This means detailed planning can now begin. One thing is certain: the multi-generation space on Lindenstraße is gaining momentum, and thanks to 100% funding, no additional costs will arise for the municipal budget.
